Where Speed Meets Celebration

Picture this: the wind whips past your face, the engine’s thunder echoes across the water, and adrenaline pulses through the crowd—the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is back. As the roar of high-performance boats rivals the laughter and cheers of fans on the water and land, this isn’t just any boat race. It’s an electric celebration of speed, innovation, and community… and this year, we’re right in the heart of it at Dog Days Bar & Grill.

A Legacy of Speed: Racing History and Heart

Over the years, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout has grown from a local race into the largest unsanctioned boat race in the United States—and perhaps the world. What began as a showdown among passionate boaters has turned into a globally anticipated spectacle, drawing elite teams and resilient “top guns” who strive to blaze across the ¾-mile course at speeds exceeding 200 mph.
In 2025, organizers are upping the game by launching the action from a brand-new location—Dog Days Bar & Grill and the nearby Grand Glaize Arm—taking advantage of Osage Beach’s more accessible and calm waters, as well as the venue’s crowds, docks, and amenities.

A Revamped Venue: Dog Days Becomes Shootout HQ

This year marks a milestone: for the first time in the Shootout’s 37-year history, the event is hosted at Dog Days Bar & Grill, nestled at the 19-mile marker of the Main Channel. With 200 dock slips provided by the Oasis development and emergency services nearby, it’s prime time for attendees and racers alike.

Shootout Week: A Lineup of Thrills

This isn’t just a weekend—it’s an action-packed week of excitement, leading up to the main event:
• August 16–17 – Mini Shootout at Ha Ha Tonka State Park—a remote-controlled boat showdown with a “Top Gun” trophy on the line.
• Also August 16–17 – Wishing On A Ride, where individuals with disabilities experience electrifying boat rides—spreading joy, courage, and connection across the lake.
• August 19 – Hall of Fame Dinner at Big Thunder Showroom—an evening honoring boating legends with dinner and awards.
• August 20 – Shootout on the Strip Street Party on Bagnell Dam Strip—where powerboats, fans, and loud engines collide under neon lights.
• August 21 – Shootout Showcase Demo Day at Dog Days—hands-on demo rides from top boat manufacturers.
• August 22 – Poly Lift Poker Run, starting at Performance Boat Center and ending at Shady Gators—one of the nation’s largest boat poker runs.
• August 23–24 – The main event: 37th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.
Following the high-octane weekend, the excitement continues with the Rock the Dock party—a laid-back way to decompress at Dog Days.

Community, Charity, and Dollars for Causes

The Shootout isn’t just about boats—it’s about lifting up our community. Since its earliest days, the event has donated heavily toward local life-safety and emergency services, with the 2024 event alone raising $730,000.
Dog Days Bar & Grill is proud not just to host, but to amplify that legacy— championing local businesses, first responders, and the everyday heroes of the Lake of the Ozarks.
